The Fucking Wrath provides a driving rhythm similar to that of old-school Metallica, yet lacks the technical diversity and vocal clarity which made the “Kill’em All” days worth the listen. Their wrathfulness is reliant on repetition of the same guitar rhythms overlaid by incoherent screams. I wouldn’t be surprised if every song was in the same key. All members appear to have the raw talent to play something interesting, yet rarely depart from their comfortable and fundamental cadences. Because of this, the album feels consistently redundant. I decided that in order to ensure the fairness of this review I’d compare The Fucking Wrath to the bands with which they’ve compared themselves: Metallica, Tragedy & Black Sabbath (all dense, driving music with some expression of musicality/melody to arouse anyone’s aural libido). Unfortunately, their comparison is deceiving – despite having lumped themselves into a macabre mélange of auditory excitement and adrenergic stimulation, The Fucking Wrath left my aural receptors un-stimulated, somewhat limp and ultimately flaccid.
